Tablespoon was formed in 1997. The founding members, Justin Eady and Michael Waren began playing guitar together and writing music. In need of a drummer, the two called upon Rick Jackson to join them. After honing their skills and developing their material, the band started playing live. The name Tablespoon was conceived after listening to the Soundgarden song "Spoonman". Eventually the band had developed a catalog of original material and felt it was time to record an album. The band beckoned recording engineer Tony Young of Rolling Tones Studios for the recording process. The songs on the album were reflections of the bands grunge and alternative rock influences. Since the band mates only played guitar, Tony overdubbed the bass parts. A desire for a full live sound left Tablespoon looking for a permanent bass player. Soon enough member Joey Waren became fluent on the bass and was enlisted. A few years past and college and career opportunities unfortunately put the band on hiatus. 2009 marked the return of the band. Not long after reforming, they began working on new material. In 2012, the band recorded their sophomore album titled "No Guitars In Heaven". It was recorded at Palmwood Studios with recording engineer Gary Laney. Gary has worked with several artists, including R.E.M., Keith Whitley, and Trisha Yearwood. His expertise helped the band produce a very impressive and diverse album. Tablespoon is all about having a good time and playing music people enjoy.
